MOORHEAD (KFGO) – A man is dead after a workplace accident in north Moorhead Tuesday morning. The man has been identified as Stacy Martin, 51, of Fargo.
Clay County Sheriff Mark Empting says personnel with his office and Sanford Ambulance responded to Bert’s Truck Equipment at 3804 Highway 75 N. on a report that an axle fell on a man. Martin suffered a traumatic chest injury in the shop.
The Sheriff’s Office says Martin was working with a lift axle on a truck when a temporary weld failed, causing the axle to fall onto his chest and abdominal area. Other employees in the shop lifted the axle off of Martin.
Empting says Martin was awake and speaking with first responders when they arrived, but lost consciousness on the way to Sanford Medical Center.
Sanford Ambulance and Sanford Medical Center personnel tried saving Martin, but were unsuccessful.
