MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KFGO/Learfield) – It’s Black Friday and shoppers are flooding stores and websites in search of deep discounts.
President of Minnesota Retailers Bruce Nustad says projections are that more people than ever will do some holiday shopping this weekend. Retailers are hoping Friday’s rush sets the tone for the weeks ahead.
“I think we’re going to see some solid shopping this year, some are definitely looking for some discounts,” Nustad said. “People are still thinking about inflation and tariffs. But I think on average folks are projected to spend just under $700 around the holiday season. If you count décor and those things, closer to $900.”
The Mall of America is expected to be packed with shoppers looking for Black Friday deals. Vice President of Marketing Jill Renslow says people started lining up on Thanksgiving night for the 7 a.m. opening.
Renslow says there are prizes and mystery scratch-off cards for shoppers that arrive early at the Mall of America.
West Acres Shopping Center in Fargo is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Black Friday.
