RAPID CITY, S.D.- (KFGO/KWAT) – Multiple fire crews responded to a structure fire at the iconic Reptile Gardens tourist attraction overnight.
Firefighters discovered a fire in a detached agricultural shelter. Heavy fire and smoke conditions extended into the ceiling and roof of the structure.
The firefighters were able to stop the spread of the fire before it could affect any nearby vegetation. No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.
An undetermined number of alligators and tortoises died.
