FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KFGO KBRF) – Work crews have removed the bell from the top of Fergus Falls City Hall.
The building has reopened to the public and employees. The city continues to assess the damage and determine necessary repairs.
Last week, staff was assessing the condition of the bell tower when one side of the bell-support shifted, which created a concern for a collapse of the tower. City hall was immediately evacuated and the area around it was cordoned off.
Employees from public works and the fire department assisted engineers in assessing the collapse potential and developed a plan to secure the bell until removal could take place.
