CAMBRIDGE, Minn. – A preliminary report on a fatal plane crash near Cambridge last Thursday indicates that a lack of fuel may have caused the aircraft to go down.
The crash of the single-engine plane killed the pilot. It happened a short distance from the runway at Cambridge Municipal airport.
The National Transportation Safety Board says both wings and the fuselage sustained extensive damage when the airplane struck the ground. Investigators examined the wreckage and found that most of the aircraft’s fuel system was dry and showed little presence of fuel.
Authorities have not released the identity of the pilot.
