GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO/KWAT)–The National Weather Service office in Grand Forks has issued a summary on a tornado near Dakota Magic Casino on the South Dakota-North Dakota border last Thursday.
The rope tornado was an EF-1 on the Fujita Scale. It was on the ground for a mile-and-a-half and reached a maximum width of 30 yards.
The weather service says it was a slow-moving tornado that started in a field and tracked east-northeast into a grove of trees, snapping some off at the trunk, and then scouring through a corn field. The peak winds were estimated to be around 100 miles an hour.
There were no injuries or damage to any buildings.
