FARGO (KFGO) – An investigation into an odor of fuel and a sheen on Rose Coulee in Fargo that was reported last Sunday afternoon has been closed.
The Fargo Fire Department was called to 40th Avenue and University Drive South after someone passing by smelled fuel. Fire crews found the sheen and placed absorbent booms in the coulee to prevent the fuel from reaching the Red River.
The State Department of Environmental Quality was on site both Monday and Tuesday to evaluate the spill. No sheen was present then.
The fuel had evaporated or been absorbed by the booms. Rain will make it impossible to determine a source for the release. Based on those observations, the state determined that no follow-up is needed.
An Environmental Health Practitioner with Fargo Cass Public Health assisted with the investigation.
