PLYMOUTH, Minn. – Anti-gun violence groups are disappointed by a court ruling that struck down the state’s ban on binary triggers.
Maggiy Emery of Protect Minnesota says the law was found to be unconstitutional because it was included in a large omnibus bill.
“This really wasn’t about the legality of a binary trigger ban in and of itself. So I do think this gives a window of opportunity to come back to the legislature next year and say okay let’s pass this as a stand-alone,” Emery says.
A binary trigger allows a gun to fire once when the trigger is pulled and again when it is released.
