ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO/MNN) – State Capitol security is a top issue facing Minnesota lawmakers before the next session begins in February.
Proposals to improve security at the capitol include adding metal detectors and limiting the number of entrances to the building.
“Some of the things we would have to do if we pursue this would require resources and in some cases, we may need law changes, or rule changes.” Senate Majority Leader Erin Murphy said.
The Minnesota State Patrol handles security at the capitol. The State Patrol is hiring a third-party to evaluate current security procedures and make recommendations for changes.
