WILLMAR, Minn. (KFGO KWLM) – The suspect in the murder of a Willmar teenager may have accidentally shot the youth as they were shooting at two other people in a parked car.
17-year-old Jamil Mohamed Abdille of Willmar is charged with 3 felony counts of 2nd degree murder and one count of 3rd degree murder in the death of a 17-year-old boy the night of May 12 in southeast Willmar.
Court records say surveillance video shows Abdille and the victim were walking toward a car parked and opened fire as the car drove off. Abdille was behind the victim, and investigators believe he shot him in the head as they were firing at the car.
No reason was given for why they were firing at the car. The 17-year-old boy, who has not been identified, was dead at the scene. Abdille was arrested on May 17 and is being held at the Prairie Lakes Youth Program secure facility. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 28.
