GRAFTON, N.D. (KFGO) – Walsh County Sheriff Ron Jurgens says the county is looking at moving forward and using the sales tax that passed during last week’s special election for a new jail and or sheriff’s office in Grafton.
County voters approved a 3/4 percent sales tax, but rejected a property tax increase.
Jurgens says the state’s attorney is researching the issue to see if the sales tax revenue can be used for a new jail or sheriff’s office, since that was the purpose of the vote.
A meeting is planned for next week after the official canvassing results are in.
