Bismarck Police Chief Dave Draovitch
BISMARCK, ND (KFGO) – Bismarck Police Chief Dave Draovitch has announced his plan to retire after 36 years of service with the department.
According to the department, Draovitch’s father was a Chief of Police in Minot at one time and his wife is a retired police officer. His father-in-law was also a past chief with the Fargo Police Department, so law enforcement has always been a big part of his life.
Draovitch started his career as a patrol officer in 1989. Fourteen years later, he was promoted to Sergeant and supervised a patrol shift from 2003 to 2006. He was then promoted to Lieutenant in 2006 and Deputy Chief in 2013, before becoming Chief of Police in 2018.
Draovitch says his final day with the department will be July 31st.
