Terrell Smith (Cass Co. jail)
FARGO (KFGO) – A third person involved in a downtown Fargo brawl that left one man with serious head and face injuries over a year ago is taking a plea deal.
Terrell Smith entered an Alford plea to accomplice to aggravated assault for his part in the brutal April 2024 beating of Sam Pikula. An Alford plea means Smith agrees there would be enough to convict him if the case went to trial.
The brawl began on NP Avenue west of Broadway when two people were fighting and Pikula tried to help break it up. Smith and others joined the fight.
Court records say he punched Pikula five times, knocking him to the ground.
An aggravated assault charge against Smith was dropped.
Another man and a woman have already pleaded guilty and been sentenced for their roles. Three other men are also charged.
Smith is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
