MOORHEAD (KFGO) – Moorhead Police have named the suspect in Sunday’s homicide.
Sgt. Joe Brannan says law enforcement is searching for Jerome Thomas III, 35, who is wanted for homicide and attempted homicide. Thomas should be considered armed and dangerous.
Officers responded to the 2700 block of 14th Street South on a report of shots fired shortly after 9:30 Sunday morning. The victim, a man, died at the scene, south of Probstfield Elementary School.
Brannan says the shooting does not appear to be random. He says Thomas was spotted leaving the scene in a light green, newer midsize Chevrolet SUV.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Red River Regional Dispatch at 701-451-7660. Police are withholding the name of the victim.
Moorhead police were assisted by Dilworth police, The Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Moorhead Fire Rescue and Sanford Ambulance.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is working with Moorhead police on the investigation.
