LIDGERWOOD, N.D. (KFGO) – A man died after the pickup he was driving broke through the ice of Grass Lake, northwest of Lidgerwood.
Richland County Sheriff Gary Ruhl says deputies responded Sunday morning. He says the victim was supposed to meet friends to fish when he didn’t show up.
Members of the Lidgerwood Fire Department on ATVs then saw open water near a pressure ridge.
The local dive team responded as did Valley Water Rescue from Fargo. Ruhl says the man’s body was recovered Sunday afternoon from open water. His dog was found dead inside the pickup.
The victim’s name has not been released.
