BATTLE LAKE, MINN. – Court documents have revealed that illegally possessed firearms were discovered in a Battle Lake home following a fire last November.
A warrant was issued Monday for 53-year-old Troy Moberg, whose home was destroyed in a fire the Monday before Thanksgiving. The fire started in an outbuilding before spreading and destroying the house.
While investigating the fire, Otter Tail County Deputies and the State Fire Marshall’s Office discovered 5 guns damaged by the fire in the bedroom of the house, as well as a bag of methamphetamine. Deputies later confirmed that Moberg had previously been convicted of a “crime of violence” and was prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Moberg is facing charges of Illegally Possessing a Firearm as a Convict, Illegally Possessing a Firearm as a Controlled Substance User, and 5th Degree Possession of Drugs.
His warrant was issued Monday after he missed his first court appearance.
