VENTURIA, N.D. (KFGO) – Publisher, author, and columnist Tony Bender has died.
Bender’s daughter announced on social media that her father passed away Sunday evening.
Bender was well-known for his syndicated columns that ran in many newspapers, including the Wishek Star and Ashley Tribune, two weeklies he owned in south central North Dakota.
Bender began his career as a disc jockey, working in radio stations across the country, including in the Dakotas, Alaska, Denver, and South Carolina.
In 1991, Bender began his writing career which included his weekly columns, several books, and reporting for his newspapers which he purchased in the 1990s.
Bender lived near Venturia, North Dakota.
