ST. PAUL – The stretch between Memorial Day and Labor Day has been known as the 100 deadliest days in Minnesota because it’s traditionally when the most fatal traffic crashes happen across the state.
State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow says Memorial Day is kind of the unofficial kick-off to summer. He says, “We’re going to see traffic pick up as far as folks going to the cabin, lakes, graduations, whatever it may be. So we want to remind everybody to make good choices every time they get into that vehicle.”
Grabow says the 100 days make up about 40 percent of the state’s traffic deaths and all too often, those crashes involve drunk driving, speed, distraction, and unbelted motorists.
Grabow reminds motorists to pay attention, drive sober, buckle up, and obey posted speeds.
