FARGO LEADS THE BEST-OF-FIVE CLARK CUP FINALS SERIES 1-0.
FARGO, N.D. (KNFL/KVRR)–The Fargo Force have been the top team in the United States Hockey League all season and proved that once again Friday night. The Force defeated the Dubuque Fighting Saints 3-1 to take a 1-0 series lead in this best-of-five championship series.
The Force started the game fast with two goals in the opening 10 minutes. Leo Gruba, the USHL Defenseman of the year, netted the game’s first goal. Brandon Svoboda netted the second first period goal for Fargo. In the third period, Mac Swanson netted an empty-netter to seal the deal.
Hampton Slukynsky, the USHL goaltender of the year, was solid in net allowing just the one goal and protecting the 2-0 lead he was given in the opening period.
Game two is Saturday night, May 11, at 6:05 P.M. at Scheels Arena in Fargo. Games 3 and 4 will take place in Dubuque next weekend.
