DILWORTH, MINN. (KFGO) – The Dilworth City Council has voted to move ahead and extend the offer to hire Acting Police Chief Hunter Rawson as police chief.
The decision came after the city council voted to make an offer last month to a Milwaukee police lieutenant to become the next police chief. However, last week, Justin Carloni turned down the offer.
City Administrator Peyton Mastera told the council members there were now two options, either start the search for new candidates for the job or make the offer to Rawson.
After hearing from council members who support Rawson, Mayor Chad Olson made the move. He said, “Everyone is confident in extending the authority to City Administrator Peyton Mastera to negotiate with acting chief Rawson for that position.”
Rawson has been with the Dilworth Police Department for 21 years. Rawson started as a patrol officer and has been an investigator with the department since 2007. Last May, Rawson became acting police chief when Ty Sharpe resigned.
