BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – A man Bismarck Police believe set fire to his trailer home as officers tried to arrest him Wednesday was hospitalized with burns and smoke inhalation.
Matthew Odegard, 45, was wanted on warrants for failing to appear on numerous cases and charges.
When officers from the U.S. Marshals High Plains Fugitive Task Force arrived at his home, and Odegard barricaded himself in a room. During negotiations, a fire started in that room.
Officers called the Bismarck Fire Department, Metro Ambulance, and the SWAT Team for help.
Odegard eventually came out of the house and firefighters put out the fire. No one else was hurt.
