RICHLAND COUNTY, N.D. (KFGO) – Fire destroyed a home about 2 miles north of Christine, North Dakota, just off Highway 81.
Christine Fire Chief Randy Monson says the fire was reported around 4:30 A.M. Friday.
He says the fire may have started in the basement on the west side of the house. The parents and two children woke to smoke and escaped unharmed. They took shelter in one of their farm buildings.
The home, built in the late 1800s, had a metal roof that hindered firefighter’s efforts to extinguish the fire.
Several pets were lost in the fire. Monson says Christine firefighters had mutual aid from Abercrombie, Colfax, Walcott, and Kindred fire departments.
