BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – North Dakota Lt. Gov. Tammy Miller has chosen State Commerce Commissioner Josh Teigen as her running mate as she tries to succeed Gov. Doug Burgum.
Miller’s announcement comes ahead of the state Republican party convention in Fargo, which begins Friday.
Before he was appointed commerce commissioner, Teigen worked in private business. He’s a native of North Dakota and he graduated from the University of North Dakota with a bachelor’s degree. Miller will square off against Congressman Kelly Armstrong for the nomination for governor. Both have said that they’ll be on the June primary ballot.
Democratic State Senator Merrill Piepkorn of Fargo is seeking his party’s backing for governor.
Michael Coachman of Larimore is running as an independent candidate.
