KINDRED, N.D. (KFGO/KVRR) – With the Final Four approaching in both the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, many people have filled out brackets that have long been busted, but an 8-year-old boy from Kindred has a bracket near the top of the ESPN leaderboard.
Lincoln Ham’s men’s bracket is in the 99.9th percentile out of 24 million brackets.
“I remind him there’s more luck involved than just skill. It’s pretty cool. I will admit he did beat me pretty badly in this year’s bracket competition. We did them all as a family so it was fun to follow the games and compare brackets,” Lincoln’s dad Jalen said.
Ham’s Final Four picks are Purdue, Houston, UCONN and Alabama. Purdue, UCONN, and Alabama are still in the tournament.
Jalen Ham said it’s been a good opportunity for the family to bond.
“My daughter filled one out too. Dad wins when both kids want to turn on March Madness. So, there’s no complaints from me,” Jalen Ham said.
Some people might keep their secret to picking such a successful bracket, but Lincoln shared his.
“I just look at the teams and see who they play next and see if they are the good team and maybe they will win,” he said.
