BISMARCK, N.D. (Prairie Public) – North Dakota Public Service Commissioner Julie Fedorchak is seeking the GOP nomination for the state’s lone U.S. House seat.
At her kick-off rally in Bismarck Thursday, Fedorchak said if she is elected to the House, she wants to serve on the Energy and Commerce Committee.
“Our country is blessed beyond measure with energy resources and yet two-thirds of our nation is at risk of not having enough energy to meet demand at times. With abundant coal, oil, gas, wind, solar, nuclear and hydro, there is no reasonable excuse for not having enough energy to meet the demand in this country,” she said.
Fedorchak said she will seek the nod at the Republican state convention in early April – but that her name will be on the primary ballot even if she doesn’t get the party’s endorsement.
Current Congressman Kelly Armstrong has announced he is running for Governor.
Also seeking the GOP endorsement for House are former legislators Rick Becker and Tom Campbell.
Trygve Hammer is running as a Democrat for the seat.
