With profound sadness, we share the news of the passing of Brenda Joyce Byer, née Erlandson, on January 28, 2024, in Fargo, North Dakota. Born to Eugene and Joyce Erlandson on October 22, 1956, in Watertown, South Dakota, Brenda’s journey was one of profound dedication, love, and service.
Brenda’s early years in Watertown laid the foundation for a life full of care and compassion. She pursued her passion for nursing at Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD, a testament to her lifelong commitment to helping others. Her career as a Registered Nurse was more than a profession; it was a calling that she embraced with her whole heart, touching countless lives with her kindness and expertise.
Brenda is lovingly remembered by her husband, Dave; sons Nate (Amy) and Craig (Jennifer); her adored grandchildren, Emma (Chris), Rachel (Torehn), Katy, Braiden, Noah, and Bodhi; and countless beloved family and friends. Her constant companions, Bogart and Einstein will miss her dearly. Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Joyce and Eugene Erlandson; and her cherished grandson, William Byer.
As a devout Catholic, Brenda’s faith was a cornerstone in her life, bringing solace and strength to her and those around her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will be forever cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation from 5-7pm and prayer service at 7pm will be Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, January 31 at Sts. Anne and Joachim Church in Fargo, followed by a luncheon. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Watertown, SD on Thursday, February 1 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Roger Maris Cancer Center.
Brenda’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Roger Maris Cancer Center for their unwavering, dedicated care over the years and to the staff of Sanford Medical Center for the compassion and care they provided both to Brenda and her family during the last days of her life.
