MCKENZIE COUNTY, N.D. – McKenzie County Emergency Management and the Watford City-McKenzie County Rural Fire Protection District called for help from Williston Fire Department and Williams County/Williston Emergency Management Hazardous Materials Response Team to deal with a spill late Wednesday morning.
An unknown substance was spilled on a rural road, which had a foul odor. The HazMat Response Team started air monitoring for safety, and sampling to determine the substance’s hazards. Crews confirmed that it did not pose an immediate risk.
Crews cleaned the spill, and the highway was reopened although the odor remained.
