ST. PAUL, Minn. – Violence Free Minnesota says intimate partner deaths in 2023 are the most they’ve recorded in a decade.
Spokesman Joe Shannon says there are 37 confirmed deaths, and there are a couple more that will be confirmed in the coming months. The average number of intimate partner deaths in Minnesota is 25, according to Shannon.
Shannon says that while physical abuse may be the most visible form, he says domestic violence is a pattern of emotionally, sexually, financially, and physically abusive behaviors.
