We can agree and disagree all day long about the situation on our southern border, but none of that matters until someone actually does something. But before I lay out my ideas, let me buy some insurance. The things the migrants are doing is illegal and shouldn’t be allowed to happen. They shouldn’t be allowed into the country, and all legal steps should be taken to make sure they aren’t. Additional help needs to be given to those patrolling the border, and additional resources given to meet the demand they’re under. The Biden Administration also needs to show America they’re working on this and serious about resolving it. If they’re going to put Vice President Harris in charge of solving the problem, then she needs to be held responsible. I have no doubt the credit will go her way if progress is also made.
Additionally, we need to acknowledge the previous administration didn’t do a damn thing. We were promised that a wall would be built along the southern border, but it didn’t happen. We were promised Mexico would pay for said wall, and it never happened. Despite the fact that Trump had the Senate and House at the same time during his Presidency, none of those happened.
So now that I’ve criticized both parties’ presidents, let me tell you what I’d do. I would go to the source of the problem. Who do you know that would put everything they have, including their own children, on their back and walk across countries to find a better life? It’s simple. The answer is no one. So why aren’t we asking why they would do that? What is happening to their home that they’re willing to leave it and everything else behind?
That’s where you start. You use the power you have to go to their country and change it. If that involves the United Nations, then you use it. If it involves money, then you use that. And if it involves the use of force, then you make sure they know you’re willing to use it. For those that say we shouldn’t involve ourselves in other countries, I would say we already have. For those that say we can’t afford it, I would ask, What’s it costing us now?
We can demonize them all we want. Donald Trump taught us how to do that. Go ahead and call them names and blame them for everything wrong in America. It doesn’t change the fact that millions of good and innocent people need us.
And they’ve proven they’re not going away.
Good riding with you,
Joel
