FARGO (KFGO) – Firefighters stood by briefly at Hector International Airport in Fargo Friday morning after an inbound aircraft declared an emergency. The plane had just left the airport.
Shortly before 8 a.m., the air traffic control tower notified the Hector Field Fire Department that a FedEx Cessna Caravan 208 reported smoke in the cabin. The plane was approximately 2 to 3 miles out and returning to the airport. Fargo firefighters also responded as part of a mutual aid agreement.
Within minutes, the aircraft landed without incident and parked at the cargo ramp. The pilot said the smoke had cleared as she returned to the airport.
Hector Fire crews investigated and determined that the smoke was from residual fluid on the engine and the plane was considered safe.
