FARGO (KFGO) – A regional damaging icing event continues today (Tuesday) for portions of the region and travel is difficult to impossible in many areas.
Temperatures are slowly warming from east to west with the 32-degree line roughly from Roseau to East Grand Forks to Mayville to Lisbon. rain and freezing rain will continue over the area. The highest icing accumulations anticipated are from west of Fargo and Wahpeton and Finley to Valley City.
There have been power outages throughout the area and tree damage due to the ice. There have been problems in the F-M metro overnight as well.
Fargo Fire Department Battalion Chief Chris Rasmussen says about 50 calls on downed power lines starting early last night. There were also several power poles down. The ice also downed several trees and tree limbs.
Xcel Energy, Cass County Electric and Ottertail Power are among the crews working to repair power outages across the region.
