Voting is underway at the Ramada in Fargo
FARGO (KFGO) – Fargo is holding a special election Tuesday with voters deciding whether or not to increase sales and lodging taxes to fund the remodeling of the Fargodome and the addition of a 90,000-square-foot conference center.
At least 60% of the voters must approve the ballot measure.
If it passes, both taxes would be for 20 years, starting April 21, 2024, and ending March 31, 2044. Construction of the project would start in the winter of 2024 and is estimated to cost $140 million, with $30 million coming from the Fargodome’s permanent fund and the remainder coming from the proposed tax increases.
There are three voting locations; at the Fargodome, at 1800 North University Drive, the Fargo Civic Center at 207 4th Street North, and the Ramada Inn at 3333 13th Avenue South. The polls will be open until 7 p.m.
