MANDAN, N.D. (KFGO) – Four Mandan teenagers were hurt in a rollover crash along the shore of the Missouri River north of Mandan Friday night.
According to the Highway Patrol, around 8:20 p.m., a 14-year-old girl was driving an SUV east on 38th Street N. at a high rate of speed heading toward a shore fishing area. The fishing area is at the bottom of a 50-foot cliff.
At the top of the cliff is a parking area. As they approached the parking area, the vehicle went over a set of railroad tracks and the girl lost control. The SUV slid sideways through a barbed wire fence, rolled down the cliff, and landed upright along the shore.
A 14-year-old girl and two 16-year-old boys were passengers. Both girls and one of the boys were able to get out of the vehicle. The other boy had to be cut out.
Both girls and the boy who was cut from the vehicle were taken to Bismarck hospitals. Their conditions have not been released.
The SUV had to be lifted up the cliff with a crane.
None of the teens were wearing seatbelts.
