FARGO (KFGO) – Around 3,000 counties in the U.S. are encouraging people to participate in Project Green Light this week to encourage veterans to seek out the services they earned during their time in the military.
Cass County Veterans Services Director Chris Deery said sometimes veterans need a little push to get help. He hopes that with people turning on a green light outside their homes, conversations with veterans about getting those services they deserve can get started.
“It gets people talking and thinking, ‘hey, what’s going on here? Maybe I should check into the VA or go to the Cass County Veterans Service Office,’” Deery said.
Deery said there is a stigma around asking for help, but he said if a veteran needs help, they should go get it.
The green lights will be shining at the courthouse all week.
Veterans Day is Saturday. Project Green Light runs through Sunday.
