ST. PAUL, Minn. – A new exhibit opening at the Minnesota History Center Saturday re-examines and reframes photos of the Native American community from the 1920s to 1990s.
Director Amber Annis said they updated articles and photo captions featuring stereotypes and misconceptions about Native Americans. She said they want to remind people that Native Americans are contemporary.
“We don’t want people to always think about Native folks as in the past, like where we weren’t modern,” Annis said.
The goal of the Reframing Our Stories exhibit is to create a space where Native members feel connected to their communities.
