FARGO (KFGO) – A heavily damaged house at 924 7th Street North has been declared a dangerous building by the Fargo City Commission and the city attorney has been directed to prepare findings of fact and order the house to be removed.
Fargo’s Inspection Director Shawn Ouradnik told commissioners the Inspections Department was first alerted to the heavily damaged house in May and notice was sent to the owner and the bank. He says getting around the building was “difficult” because of garbage and debris.
The Inspections Department also spent about three months trying to work with the owners and the bank in an attempt to keep the house secure and clean up the property.
The windows of the house have been boarded up and many are broken. There have also been citizen complaints about squatter activity. One city inspector also reported that the property had the “most needles” they’ve seen on any property.
The house was secured by the city in early June and had to be secured a second time in mid-September due to additional squatter activity.
