Hamas is responsible for what happened to the Israeli people. They initiated this war and are making other people pay for this war. Hamas never once cared what this might do to the innocent people in Palestine that had looked to them for leadership. And because of what they have done, thousands of people have been brutally murdered and thousands more still will be. The Gaza strip now lies in ruins and innocent human beings are being used as human shields.
We can all debate on why Hamas brought this evil, but we can’t debate on what it’s caused. And what it has caused will insure that in my lifetime, it will never be fixed. Frankly, I’m not sure it ever was fixed in the first place. Presidents have tried to find some way to bring peace to the Middle East, some even claiming victory, but in the end never having achieved it. They’ve never been able to bring two groups together to actually trust each other enough to bring lasting peace. That’s because, no matter how hard they try, they can’t fix something that’s centuries old. It’s pure hatred for each other, and always will be.
The big question that needs to be asked is, when does Israel stop? Will it be after the complete destruction of the Gaza Strip? Because if that’s their goal, they’re well on their way to achieving it. They’re trained better. They’re better supplied. And they’re better supported.
At least for now.
My fear is that if Israel continues to use their might, the whole world will start to rebel. Certainly our enemies will. They’ll use it to show how barbaric our side of this war is, and then they’ll blame America. China, North Korea, and Russia will believe Iran (the true villain in this) and we’ll have WWIII on our hands. And that is exactly what Iran and Hamas want to happen.
We’re on the side of Israel because it’s the right side to be on. Jews have been subject to all the horrors this world can bring. Generation after generation they have been forced to worry about their existence. And Germany clearly proved it’s not just Hamas that they’ve had to worry about over the years.
So as some that are proud to be their friend, I think we have a responsibility to not only Israel, but to ourselves. There will come a time when we urge them to say enough. A Palestinian baby is just as important as an Israeli baby.
The tragedy is that that time hasn’t come yet.
Good riding with you,
Joel
