STANLEY, N.D. (KFGO) – A high-speed chase occurred last night around 11 PM when a Stanley Police Officer attempted a traffic stop along Highway 2, approximately 20 miles west of Stanley, ND, with the pickup truck reaching speeds over 100 mph with the officer in pursuit.
The truck entered a 45mph construction zone at a high rate of speed and, failed to negotiate the reduced speed zone and left the roadway, entered the median, striking a steel bridge guardrail that prevented the vehicle from traveling off the bridge into the White Earth River.
The driver, 31-year-old Sidney Bowman of Conrad, MT, was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered serious injuries. Bowman was transported by ambulance to Tioga Medical Center and then to Trinity Health in Minot, ND, by air.
Bowman faces charges of fleeing a peace officer, DUI-Felony, Driving Under Revocation, Reckless Endangerment, and multiple weapons violations.
