DEVILS LAKE, N.D. – At a special meeting, the Devils Lake School Board voted to offer the district’s superintendent job to the principal at Wahpeton High School.
All five board members voted to offer the district’s top job to Ned Clooten. Clooten’s selection was also backed by staff who participated in interviews with the three finalists.
Clooten has been with Wahpeton High School for 10 years.
If a contract with Clooten is finalized, he would replace superintendent Matt Bakke who plans to leave the district at the end of next week to take a position with Grand Forks Public Schools.
The school board voted to again table accepting Bakke’s resignation in order to await a decision from Clooten on the board’s job offer.
