Shandi Cordner
FARGO (KFGO) – A Clitherall, Minnesota man has been arrested and charged for his role in a crash that killed one man and seriously injured another last June.
42-year-old Shandi Cordner was arrested immediately following the crash and spent three days in jail. The North Dakota Highway Patrol said Cordner rear-ended the dolly trailer of an SUV that had pulled over to the side of the northbound I-29 exit ramp from I-94 during the afternoon rush hour on June 1, 2022.
50-year-old Don Keplin and 39-year-old Lucas Azure were standing outside the SUV checking on the trailer. The trailer was pushed forward when Cordner’s car rear-ended it, striking the two men. Both were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, where Azure died.
Cordner was initially charged with possession of methamphetamine, and sentenced to a year of probation.
Earlier this month, a warrant was issued for Cordner and he was charged with negligent homicide and aggravated reckless driving. He was arrested and booked into the Cass County Jail on Monday, and arraigned in Cass County District Court Friday morning. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for July 27.
