MINNESOTA – A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a small school bus on Monday morning in Minneapolis, according to local authorities.
The Minneapolis Police Department responded to the call of a fatal crash involving a school bus and a pedestrian at around 6:45 a.m. on Monday. When they arrived, officers found “an adult male was deceased under the bus.”
The department is still investigating the incident but shared that the man is believed to have been hit by the small school bus while it was making a left turn onto Cedar Avenue S. in Minneapolis.
“Investigators from the Minneapolis Police Traffic Investigations Unit responded to process the scene and collect evidence,” the department shared in a press release.
The State Patrol also assisted in the investigation by helping reconstruct the crash.
Onboard the bus with the driver was an 8-year-old boy, and police shared that both were reportedly uninjured during the incident. Police also shared the driver is cooperating with investigators.
The identity of the man has not yet been released, nor has the cause and nature of his death. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner is expected to share the information soon.
