WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Justice is appealing a federal judge’s ruling in Texas that would suspend use of the so-called abortion pill.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said an activist judge made a decision that will impact millions of Americans.
“Minnesota will do everything in our power to protect the rights of people to make their own health care decisions,” Walz said. “Again let’s put to rest this idea about big government. That is the most big government move that we have seen, maybe in our lifetime.”
A separate federal court ruling in Washington state blocked the FDA from restricting access to mifepristone in 17 states, including Minnesota.
The drug was used in 61 percent of abortions in Minnesota state in 2021.
