MINNEAPOLIS (KFGO) – Wide receiver Adam Thielen has been cut by the Minnesota Vikings.
The former All-Pro’s 10-year run with the team comes to an end as they continue to deal with salary cap issues ahead of the upcoming season. Thielen’s contract would have left the Vikings with a nearly $20 million salary cap hit.
Thielen grew up in Detroit Lakes and played football at Minnesota State-Mankato on a $500 scholarship. He signed with the vikings in 2013 after a rookie camp tryout and turned into one of the premier players in the NFL.
Thielen is a two-time Pro Bowler with 534 catches for 6,682 yards and 55 touchdowns.
