HAWLEY, Minn. (KFGO) – A 46-year-old Bloomington, Minnesota man was found safe after a snowmobile crash early Saturday morning.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Hawley Police were called on a report of a man who did not return from snowmobiling and was unable to be contacted.
The Sheriff’s Office used their tracked UTV to search for the man in the area where his cell phone was pinging.
Hawley Police contacted a family member who was able to use a cell phone app to pinpoint the man’s exact location.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the man was pinned under a snowmobile on a trail in rural Clay County. The man had minor injuries and appeared to be hypothermic. He was turned over to the Hawley Emergency Response Team for treatment.
Clay County deputies are investigating the crash. It is unknown at this time how long the man was pinned under the snowmobile. Alcohol appears to be a factor.
