James Kollie
MOORHEAD (KFGO) – A Clay County grand jury has indicted 25-year-old James Kollie on several charges in connection with the December death of his mother in Moorhead.
Kollie was previously charged with 2nd-degree murder with intent in the December 1 stabbing death of 56-year-old Receia Kollie but on Tuesday the grand jury brought back an indictment against him for first-degree murder with premeditation and second-degree murder with intent. If convicted of the first-degree murder charge, James Kollie would face a mandatory sentence of life in prison.
Kollie was arraigned today and Judge Galen Vaa set bail at $4 million without conditions or $2 million with various conditions if Kollie posts bail. Kollie’s attorney filed a motion for an evaluation of Kollie’s current competency as well as his competency at the time the crime was committed. His next court appearance will be set after that evaluation is completed.
