DICKINSON, N.D. (KFGO) – A Dickinson woman is dead after her SUV crashed into the trailer of a semi-truck that had jackknifed on I-94 in western North Dakota early Monday morning.
The semi-truck was traveling westbound 11 miles east of Dickinson when it lost control on the partially-ice-covered road and jackknifed in the median with the trailer blocking the passing lane. The SUV, which was also traveling westbound, hit the semi’s trailer on the left rear side and went underneath it.
Heavy fog was reported in the area at the time of the crash, which occurred just before 1:30 a.m. MST.
The 50-year-old driver of the SUV suffered fatal injuries and was transported to the medical examiner’s office in Bismarck. The semi-truck driver, a 36-year-old Milwaukee man, was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
