Jill and I dated for 12 years before we got married. But, to be honest, I knew I wanted to spend my life with her after our first official date.
Let’s go back to the summer of 2006. Jill worked for Hollywood Video in Moorhead, MN and I worked at Take 2 Video in Fargo, ND. A real Romeo and Juliet type thing. I worked with her sister and we hung out as big groups, all people who worked in the “video industry.”
We spent the summer hanging out and went on an official 1st date in August. I had planned a special evening to drive to the lakes area to hit up a Zorbaz…but to my surprise, all the Zorbaz locations were closed (or should I say CLOZED) for an employee party. We switched it up and went to a different restaurant that wasn’t serving pizza that evening. She was cool with the changes and I knew she was the right one for me.
We got married in 2018 and have been through a lot of life changes together. I couldn’t ask for a better partner. She understands me. She is willing to change plans, always up for an adventure, reminds me that everything I say isn’t funny, cares for me when I say that I don’t need it and so much more.
Jill is the one who can put up with me…and believe me when I say that she has to put up with a lot. She spent an entire summer doing Parking Lot Bingo with Amy and I. She went to a play about Harry Potter even though she doesn’t care about Harry Potter. She knows the value of silence and pushes me to be a better person.
I am so lucky to have her in my life. Her family is pretty darn great too.
I just wanted to take a moment and let everyone know that Jill is one in a million and I feel like I won the lottery every single day.
