FARGO (KFGO) – The Red River Valley Bomb Squad was called to the Cass County Jail after a suspicious device inside the backpack of a man who was brought to the jail by a police officer.
During the inventory search of Leonard Budrea, Jr. as he was being booked in around 3 p.m. Sunday, a Fargo Police K9, trained in bomb detection, was called in to assist and alerted on the device which prompted the call to the bomb squad who were able to deactivate and destroy the device.
The 66-year-old Budrea, who has no permanent address, is being held for possession of an explosive. He was arrested by Fargo Police on an outstanding warrant in Clay County. No one was injured.
