INTERNATIONAL FALLS, Minn. – Top political leaders in Minnesota are expected in Northern Minnesota Saturday to view damage from ongoing flooding first hand.
Gov. Tim Walz will be joined by Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith in International Falls.
On Friday, the deployment of National Guard troops to the area was extended. Volunteers and the National Guard are sandbagging trying to save people’s homes.
Koochiching County Sheriff Perryn Hedlund says more volunteers are needed, and those who can’t volunteer can still help by keeping everyone in their thoughts and prayers.
Hedlund says a lot of residents are stressed out, need encouragement and need to know people are out there thinking of them.
Donations can also be made to help via the Red Cross or International Falls Salvation Army.
