SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Following strong performances during the indoor season and in the classroom, Erica Benson and Austin Wolf were named to the Indoor Academic All-Summit League Teams, the conference offices announced on Wednesday morning.
Academic All-Summit League student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), have completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and have participated in at least half of their team’s competitions.
Benson finished as the runner-up at the 2022 Summit League Indoor Championships with the No. 2 point total in school history with 3,712 points. She was second in the pentathlon high jump with a leap of 5-7 (1.70m), while also running a personal-best time of 2:23.31 in the pentathlon 800 meters. In total, Benson is a three-time indoor all-conference honoree with a runner-up finish at the both the 2021 and 2022 Summit League Indoor Championships and a third-place finish in 2019.
Wolf finished third in the high jump at the 2022 Summit League Indoor Championships with a height of 6-6 1/4 (1.99m). His career-best leap was 6-8 3/4 (2.05m) at the 2020 SDSU Indoor Classic, good for the No. 4 mark on the UND all-time top-10 list.
Both Benson and Wolf are competing this week as the Fighting Hawks begin week two of the outdoor season. North Dakota will compete at the Texas Relays on March 23-26, as well as at both the Bobcat Invitational and Raleigh Relays from March 24-26.
